The Man with the Monotone Voice
Who will hear the man with the monotone voice?
No matter what you say,
any thought is a choice.
I've seen her moving in the earthly dance.
She's been singing with the priest.
She's been listening to his chants.
People dead on their feet stop to listen to her.
Nobody waits for a thought to occur.
She sees the stars in their dark frame above.
She is not a dreamer
when it comes to love.
He left his kin just to shed his own tears.
His own father's been gone for more
than four billion years.
And he's never cried so loud since the skull left the womb,
but his ears never ring when she's in the room.
The planet safe, my mother is old.
She said don't be afraid, child
to do what you're told.
You will not notice your thoughts when they're true.
There will no more to say
when the world is healing you. Yes, you.
Then she told me to wait, said you've got to wait your turn.
There's an old bridge in side you that is never going to burn.
Though your skin may be burning before you begin
To know anything what it means
how not to sin
Ever again. I do need to be free.
Even with the words that are given
Me, yes me.
The water is wide, I cannot get over.
My beautiful wings are not real anymore.
But if you can hear when you know what to say,
we will be together,
together one day.
We will grow when we will wake up and rest.
We won't need to be wise if we're true and we know
What is best.
In the night and the day we'll be seen and rejoice
in the mind of the man with the monotone voice.

You Can Learn to Fly
03:23
|
|||
Careful how to talk when you know what to say
and I need to hear better than I've heard before.
Everyone alone unaware of the way
to be when you need to be fair.
Changes in the sky, can I tell you to wait
for when people don't need to get old anymore?
People walk around at the break of the day
and then they lie down in the air.
Do you know anyone
who will be here again?
Do I know what I mean by you?
I do know what I don't
need to say to my friend
I know because it is true.
People going by, you were there til the end,
but I could feel the train through the hard worn ground.
You can walk around and return to me then,
in a story so true that it dies.
The sun is going down in November again
and I don't know what to say when I see you all around.
I can memorize what to say to a stranger.
I remember you and your cries.
And the words that you said,
they are mine. You gave them away
and I was still.
Every leaf on the tree for life.
Do they fall
of their own freewill?
Careful how to talk when you do say your name,
the better story gets better when it's over.
Every one began with the truth and the saying of it.
How can anybody be right?
Everyone a son of the way that we came,
you can learn to fly when you're older, boy.
One and only one to the poor and the lame,
nearer than the fog to the light.

Morning Star
03:19
|

The one I want to please
will never speak to me.
Nobody tells me what to do.
It seems like everybody needs
two ways to be known.
I am singing for myself, if I am true.
But I have a simple mind
when you are being kind,
I listen and I look you in the eye.
I think I'm going blind.
I need to make you feel my love.
I didn't mean to say goodbye.
I don't know where I'm going when I stop to think.
The water I divine I will stop to drink.
The door is made of stone, but I still feel
like knocking.
And in my own defence,
it is no coincidence
that only I can tell you how I feel.
Tell me at your own expense
why you think you need to know
how to take a side or make a deal.
If you are all alone
or if you're better known,
if you open every door,
you can call me on the phone.
I will say hello to you.
Tell me if I need to tell you more.
Maybe I will tell you it is never to late.
Maybe I will tell you it is better to wait.
I only want to know you,
I don't feel like talking.
Come on, say what I would say.
The moon is shining bright, today.
Tell me that I too can be the one.
The sun is rising far away.
It hurts to look at it.
Morning star when all is said and done.
How blessed are the ears
that you will never hear.
I want to hear somebody singing.
But there's no need to fear.
I believe I'm not alone.
I don't need to know everything.
The one I want to please
will never speak to me.

Solar Eclipse

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like
if you lived above me.
Would you suspect my voice,
or would you hear me when I sing on my own?
But I'm in a chair and you are in a book,
how can I walk away now,
from the day when I thought of you?
Nobody is living alone.
I have a window, I can smoke
when I want you to be there.
And you are there,
down in the city where the worlds begin.
I don't agree that I am all alone,
but what am I to say to a city wall?
Are you a dog? Why are you barking?
Someone better let you in.
I know I have been told,
but everything I knew
and everything else
will soon be coming true.
And if I am ready
to hear about it from you
the moon will cast a shadow
at the true high noon.
You have a friend, oh you can hear me
now, or when you're speaking.
There's no better way to suffer
than to not say whatever you will.
All of the leaves in the summer agree
that the wind is nothing.
And I don't need to tell you
that soon we'll be running downhill.
We're in the dark, but you're not alone,
you can still hear my voices.
You're not alone when you say goodbye.
Oh, but we will soon meet again.
Sometimes I hear dogs in the springtime,
cities of love overflowing.
There comes an hour after the eleventh one.
Nobody can say when.
I will sing a line
and then I will reply.
Sometimes it's time to listen,
sometimes it's time to sigh.
Sometimes there's an omen
no one can deny.
Sometimes it is time.
So, it has been told,
but everything I thought I knew
and everything else
will soon be coming true.
And if I am ready
to hear those words from you
the moon will cast a shadow
at the true high noon.

Where Does it Begin?
05:20
|
|||
Where does it begin?
There is no need to be alone.
On a cold and snowy night
I can hear the road from my home.
Hear my neighbor's car and everybody moving round to the sound.
of a smoky choir
singing a slow drone.
Many years ago,
before we needed to be free,
noticing our voices
with no need to say or believe.
Now, it seems like everyone is waiting to believe something new.
But nobody knows
when the hour will be.
I say where it begins,
and this is where it ends.
But everybody wins
when our voices make amends.
I say death is part of life,
but underneath my breath
all I know is life.
Life is part of death.
Who will be the one?
To be human I can try.
Oh, how could you notice
that when you're near I don't feel a grudge.
And who will be beside me when I'm not afraid to leave you alone?
Who will hold my hand
When there's no one left
to be judged?
Oh, I had a friend,
she never wore a uniform.
She said we are equal
but some of us are born of a fire.
Some of us are burning with desire for eachother alone.
But you're all alone
when you're higher.
I have never known
a mystery more defined.
I am not alone,
but I can speak my mind.
I can sing a song,
but I wonder why
when the snow is slowly falling
and you're slowly driving by.
Some people say that I am
is where it all begins.
Other people listen
to the traffic drone in the night.
On the foggy hill I think I see you by the light of the snow.
I can see my breath,
and I know it's alright.
The night is often coldest
right before the dawn.
The light goes on before us,
it is changing, then it is gone.
Then it's back again. I know you don't need me to say what I mean.
So I say goodbye
when I'm moving on.

Sara's Eyes
04:07
|
|||
Trees are recognized by you and me.
They, themselves are trees.
They take what's underground
and turn it into leaves,
leaves that can be seen
but they need only light.
We are scattered
in the darkness
of the secret that we know.
Scattered in the darkness.
In the morning we will grow.
Eyes are made of holes, or so it would appear.
Salty water flow will make it clear
that everything I see
is seen because of me.
But I can see you
there, over the water.
As we're rolling
on the oceans
of the changes that we feel.
Rolling on the oceans,
on the shoreline we will kneel.
Stones avoid the ground when I feel the need
to throw them around like they are seeds.
When it's time to speak,
it's better you than meek.
They're quiet till they break,
but I keep telling you to wait.
Must be scattered
in the darkness
of the feelings that we know.
Scattered in the darkness.
In the morning we will grow.
Flowers sow their seed right through the end.
You don't need direction from a friend.
We speak, eachother passing
ships cross in the night,
prove the horizon is not
what it looks like.

Not to Say Goodbye
03:21
|
|||
Sunlight knows the story growing in your neighbor's garden,
leaning out for what nobody promised so easily.
Nothing is so beautiful to bees and little birds.
I see the way to live on through the jubilee, in another garden mysteriously.
And the song won't last,
but you can hear it now.
We are together in a way.
Some flowers only last till afternoon
but new ones bloom everyday.
Moments come and moments stay the same until you tell them
to yourself or anyone who wants to hear a pretty song.
Or any kind of song, along the way I'll change the station on the radio
and turn the music down
when I'm looking for the road that goes to my home town.
And the roads go round, so I act like a child when I want everything I've got.
Some memories never fade but change and fade and fall and grow with every thought.
Moonshine wisdom lights the lake we're floating on and drinking
to the dawn that waits for mermaids to walk away.
One of them was beautiful, though she don't know the reason.
I sing quietly. Not to say goodbye
or to drown a sailor, but just to feel the time.
The nights go round, and how else can you sing it when you think of everyone
you knew, and in another way, you'll still know when the new day has begun.
A promise can be made to make it easy for surrender.
A better way to say it: we are here, it is the way it is.
And maybe if we stay awake and talk until we can't believe the time you'll say
I do believe you now.
Do you still need me
for a wedding vow?

Somebody Knows my Name
02:54
|
|||
Sunlight to my daydream,
doorbell to my hope.
Spirits hear the floor creak.
Loneliness and fear elope.
Broken bits of noontime,
into the night all day.
Sundials toil in vain, now.
Everyone is here to stay.
And it still can be heard
when you walk in the shade,
so I say what I say.
See the signs being made.
I don't know you at all.
Sacrifice is a word
that I won't say again.
Sacrifice is absurd.
Old words lose their voices.
Don't ever let me go.
Home is where I know you,
bodies appear outdoors, alone.
Stars are far away,
so somebody knows my mind.
People say my name, though,
no telling what they leave behind.
But it still can be heard
when I walk in the shade,
so I say what I say.
See the signs being made
I know you at all.
Sacrifice is a word
that I won't say again.
Sacrifice
Broken bits of noontime,
somebody knows my name.
Sundials hear what I say:
windows and mirrors are the same.
